Once again, we took the reigns of Allan Weiner's weekly radio show and morphed it into something rather different that what it normally is. We discussed the Voice of Freedom Radio, some high points on the WBCQ schedule, modulating oscillator circuits, played some Allman Brothers jams featuring "My Favorite Things," and took some phone calls. This happened live on Friday, May 2, 2008 (Saturday 0000 UTC) on WBCQ 7.415, 5.110, and 17.495. Allan and Jennifer are attending the Nearfest in Deerfield, New Hampshire.

This show happened at 2300 UTC on Friday, May 2, 2008, on WBCQ 7.415, 5.110 and 17.495 MHz, as we sat in for Jennifer on our first Friday night show in a while. Allan called in from the Nearfest, Richie called from Pennsylvania, and a fun time was had by all. Earlier this evening, Brad did a nice 75 minute Grits Radio on Area 51 to warm us up.

This one went off about 0136 or so on WBCQ 7.415 MHz, following Brad's first ever RNI Grits Radio Show. This is our first 90 minute show. Except for the intro, we spent no time at all prepping for this. Our live phone patch aircheck to WBCQ was excellent from when Brad went on at 0000 UTC until about 30 minutes into our Lumpy part, when the shortwave signal took a dive and went long. StaticJunkie reported we were being heard in the UK pretty good for the first 2 hours or so. Despite the earlier jamba, and the inability to take live fone calls, this was a lot of fun. We greatly enjoy filling in for John Lightning and RNI.

I won a pair of tickets for tonight's Orioles/Yankees game so Grits Radio will assume the Lumpy slot today (Saturday, April 19) from 5-7PM on 5110 and 7415 (Liquid Radio is on hiatus). We'll be back next weekend for a fresh Lumpy on Saturday, April 26. And on Sunday, April 27, we're doing Radio NewYork International again. Grits Radio will be on from 8 to 10pm, and we will cover 10pm to midnight on 7415.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 0022, 6700//5385 am. The Crystal Ship with music, "Betty Davis Eyes" a cover of "Give peace a chance" and a Police song, "Invisible sun." 6700 good, SIO 444. Not quite as strong on 5385 with some nearby diddly interference, SIO 333.

There's lots of live vinyl in this one; for the first time we ran some selections directly off the turntable. We had to feed WBCQ by telephone today, but conditions were excellent on 7415. 5110 is starting to get a bit noisy at this time, but we could copy it good here as well. This went out live on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 2200 UTC, on WBCQ 7.415 and 5.110 MHz.

Note: Jane and Jean were both determined to be Popes today, and Jane says they need to get together and DO SOME POPIN'.
