Christmas On Acid 2007

Posted at 7:14PM on Saturday, December 22, 2007 in area 51 and christmas and hf and lumpy gravy radio show and wbcq.

Area 51 started today, Saturday, December 2007, with a fine relay of Liquid Radio's live webcast at 2200 on WBCQ 5110. The signal was decent and the sound was excellent. Thanks to Liquid for an exellent musical first hour.

At 2300 we picked up WBCQ 7415 in addition to 5110 for the second hour of Area 51, our fourth annual acid-soaked Lumpy Gravy Christmas show. Good to mixed reception on 5110 and 7415, with 5110 steady here with long deep fades, and 7415 slowly disappearing into the noise as the hour progressed.

Reception reports this evening from Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas, Ohio. Thanks everyone!

Christmas on Acid 2006

Posted at 11:10AM on Sunday, December 24, 2006 in christmas and hf and lumpy gravy radio show and wbcq.

Produced by accident and directed by mistake, our 125th show was originally broadcast as 2300 UTC on Saturday, December 23, 2006, on WBCQ 7.415 MHz worldwide international shortwave. The dreaded jamba has now hit us in two successive Christmas shows. This time WBCQ's internet connection was not stable enough to grab our webcast without dropping and we were unable to set up an alternate means of feeding the show. Also, Brother Joe was given an extended sign-off and we started on 7415 about two and a half minutes late. But all that's okay, and we still received great reception reports from listeners all over. Conditions were excellent on 7415 today.

Frosty's Hat

This show was orginally broadcast live at 2300 UTC on Saturday, December 16, 2006, on WBCQ 7.415 MHz worldwide shortwave, and continues our celebration of Commander Bunny Appreciation Month! Conditions on the airwaves were variable, with reception reports from Minnesota, Louisiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Lots of listeners on the 'net this evening as well. 7415 was nice and strong here during our show's intro and faded completely out shortly thereafter.
